ftp tutorial

What is FTP?
FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is the simplest and most secure way to exchange files over the Internet.

How do I get started?
Well, first of all you need to have and FTP available host. If your are getting hosted than your host will give you a ftp address, a username and a password. For example:

Address: ftp.wishable.net
Username: Jen@wishable.net
and a password.

What do I do with this information?
You need to get a FTP program to transfer files. I use SmartFTP. Once you have downloaded your FTP program then you need to enter this information and click "connect" under the "FTP" menu.

Here is a pic of where you need to enter the info:

How do I make html pages?
Open notepad and add all your html and stuff for your page and then go to "File", "save as" and where it says "Save as type:" change it to "All files" and where it says "File name:" save it as pagename.html "pagename" can be whatever you want but it must have the .html at the end.

How do I transfer my files?
It's easy! Just drag and drop! You can drag a file for your computer onto your ftp folder. You can also drag files from the ftp folder onto your computer!

I hope this tutorial helped you! I you think there is anything else I should add please let me know!
